The following information is for those who are submitting work for the Charleston Ballet from Art Walk on Thursday:
Work is to be delivered on Monday, May 21, from 9:00 to 4:00 to the Charleston Ballet Office, suite 302 at 100 Capitol Street. Work may be matted, and submitted unframed for photographing and judging on line. Winners will be notified and works selected for exhibition will be picked up by the artists to frame before exhibition. Any questions, contact Sandra King at

Some additional information if you are coming to Art Walk. Each participant will need to bring snack food. Charleston Ballet is furnishing wine and beer and we have to bring food. Also, each exhibitor will have one 36" screen and can bring a large painting or 2-3 smaller pieces that will fit on one 3' x 6' screen.
The May meeting will be our PICNIC!! Sunday, May 20th. We will be at the same place as last year: Little Creek Park in South Charleston, Shelter #9. Social hour starts at 4pm. Main food starts at 5pm. Bring a covered dish-- Main dish, side dish, appetizers or deserts, drinks, and serving utensils. Also bring your beverage of choice. (We do not plan to cook). Plates, silverware, cups, napkins will be provided. If anyone has any outdoor games, please bring them. Directions: from Jefferson Rd in South Charleston (coming from Rt. 60), turn right. At the school bus garage, turn left onto Spring Hill Ave. Go past the turn for the Country club. The next left is the park entrance. Shelter #9 is all the way on the top of the hill on the left. The Allied Artists of West Virginia will be partnering with the Charleston Ballet for a live studio drawing session during the May 17th Art Walk. Images of art pieces created during the live drawing class will be posted online for voting of favorites on both the Charleston Ballet and Allied Artists FACE BOOK pages. Three notable judges’ votes combined with the public’s choices will determine the winning piece. A $250 prize of a Charleston Town Center Gift Card will be offered to the winner of combined judges and public voting. This winner will be announced in June during FESTIVALL.
Art works will need to be submitted no later than Monday, May 21, to be included in the contest. Submitted pieces will also be on display at a public location for viewing. Viewing and voting will take place through the months of May and June. This event is also open to individual artists . Bring your easels if you would like to use one and what you need to work with. Only tables and chairs and dancers will be provided. Also, to help with refreshments, please bring a finger food.
Additional art selections from Allied Artists members will also be on display and for sale on Thursday May 17. The upcoming ARTWALK will take place on May 17, 2012 from 5-8. The Charleston Ballet studios are located on the mezzanine floor at 100 Capitol Street.

The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony for the AAWV 2012 Juried Show will be Friday, May 11th at the Parkersburg Art Center, 5:30 to 7:30pm. I hope you can make it! I have attached a simple flyer that you can print off if you want to send it to friends and family.
