Our December meeting is the Christmas Party on December 12th
at 6:00pm at the Dunbar Woman’s Club. We will have live music by Ron Oxley (jazz and classical guitar) and a fun gift exchange (bring a small gift of your art
We must give them a head count by end of day Friday.
Address and Directions: Dunbar Women’s Club, 323 14th street, Dunbar,WV 25064. Directions from I-64 E: exit 53 toward Dunbar, take left on WV-25/10th street. Turn right on Dunbar Avenue. Turn left on 14 street. In .3 of a mile 323 14 Street is on the right. From MacCorkle Avenue W in Spring Hill: take a left. Cross the old Dunbar toll Bridge. Make a left on Dunbar Ave. In .3 mile, 323 14th Street is on right.
A Big Thank You to Mark Moore, Professor of Art at Concord College for the November meeting presentation about taking a his collage painting from conception to completion. And for telling us about some really great techniques.

Art Walk on Black Friday was a great success. We ended up with 55 pieces of art. The work is really top quality and we have a wonderful, diverse show. The following members are displaying in the show: Sonja Adkins, Linda Stonestreet, Nancy Louise Mottesheard, Sandra King, Tom Ogle, Deborah Herndon, Jo Ann Jacobs, Tsukasa Kambara, Thad Settle, and Steven Holsclaw. Sandra would like to especially thank Sonja Adkins, Nancy Louise Mottesheard, Jo Ann Jacobs, and Wayne King for hanging the show and helping set up the gallery. Also special thanks to Linda Stonestreet, Thad Settle, Nancy Louise Mottsheard, Deborah Herndon, and Tsukasa Kambara, Wayne King and Diane Pauley for being at the opening and helping with everything.
Art Walk in December will also be at ‘Uncork and Create’ on December 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 with the same show and it will continue thru January. Participants are asked to come and bring food and help with greeting guests. If you are not in the exhibit - Come out and support your fellow members! It may be cold outside but it is warm and friendly inside!

Allied Artists 2014 Juried Show prospectus will be coming out in January. Watch for it! And get started on your art to submit for the show. Don’t wait till the last minute!!

Crazy Eights Exhibit at Gallery Eleven – Annual Art Invitational for Small Works. ALL MEDIUMS are eligible for this exhibit. $5.00 entry fee. Must be hangeable and 8”x 8”. The South Charleston Library wants to do a Christmas Art Show /Sale on Monday, December 16th at the Library from 6:00 to 8:30. They are interested in artists selling whatever they want and will take no commission. Registration is limited, so you must sign up right away. Contact Pam at 304-744-8436.

who will be participating in Project Wall at NAP from Jan. 4 – April 13. She will be displaying her work on the ‘real’ wall at NAP, while inviting other artists
Juried Art Exhibit and Book Cover Contest

exhibit will be looking for book art
for the debut fantasy novel WATERGIRL. The author, Juliann Whicker, will be the juror for the exhibit and will determine the winner for her book cover along with the pieces that will be displayed in the exhibit and the awards. The exhibit will be held at the Athens County Public Library. There will be a total of $700 of cash prizes given out. Deadline for Entries: July 1, 2014. National Juried Exhibition: “Less is More: Small Works in a Great Space” at The Mitchell Gallery, St. John’s College, Annapolis, MD - May 28-June 15, 2014. Sharon Harms painting "A Tiger Convergence" won an award of excellence in the 2013 Juried Exhibit. It is now a part of the WV Permanent Collection.
Sandra King, Nancy-Louise Mottesheard, Jane Long, and Linda Stonestreet have paintings in the current exhibit at Tamarack – Warmth: The Sentiment of the Season. It is on display until Jan 17th.
