I was born, raised, and lived most of my life in Charleston, West Virginia. The beautiful streams, rivers, and mountains inspire me to continue to paint landscapes, both outdoor and in the studio. Although I love landscapes I also create still-life and portrait oil paintings. You will notice that my landscape painting style differs from my still-life and portrait technique. This is because I use an old master technique that has been around for hundreds of years to build up the still-life and portraits and in my experience isnt well suitible for landscapes. I view this as being different sides of me being expressed to bring balance.
I love creating art. I am not saying it is easy by any means. It is hard work and I am always studying to improve my knowledge and skills. Art is my life, my dream, it is what I do. I live to create and I create to live. So everything it takes is worth it.
My goal is to be successful. What is success? Is it to be able to buy supplies, support yourself, or be in a gallery. No, yes, maybe. I want my work to be around and admired long after I am gone-- to me that is success. That is my desire.
