I am a native and life long resident of “Almost Heaven” West Virginia. My husband Gary and I live on a small farm where we raised our three children. Now that our children are grown, we spend our time buying, training and selling miniature horses. Our travels in this endeavor have given me an even greater love for the beauty of nature. Each season, more beautiful than the last, has inspired many of the ideas for my paintings. My desire is to be able to express the excitement of light and color through my realistic watercolor style. My career as a painter began in 1985 when a friend in the Greenbrier Artists Group introduced me to the medium of watercolor, and I haven’t let go of a brush since! I am basically self-taught but have attended many workshops given by well-known artists. I do enjoy teaching and have held several workshops locally not only on watercolor but also drawing. I taught an art class at Rainelle Christian Academy from 1994 through 1996. My work has been on exhibit in West Virginia, Ohio and Virginia at such venues as The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV, Bath County Art Show, Warm Springs, VA, Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg, WV, Tamarack, Beckley, WV, West Virginia Watercolor Society regional shows and Allied Artists of WV Shows. Some of my achievements have been Best -Of-Show, Winterfest: Best-Of -Show, Appalachian Arts and Crafts Festival; two paintings chosen for the West Virginia Wildlife Calendar and numerous other awards, ribbons and purchase awards. Just a few of the places where you may purchase my paintings are, The Gateway Place, Wilmot, Ohio; Pipestem State Park, Pipestem, WV; Tamarack, Beckley, WV; Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg, WV and Allegheny Highlands Arts and Craft Center, Clifton Forge, Va. I am pleased to be affiliated with and a member of The Greenbrier Artists, The Allied Artists of West Virginia and a signature member of The West Virginia Watercolor Society.
