It is said that a journey begins with a single step. My single step and subsequent journey, came ten years ago when I retired early to be with my brother during his illness. During his battle with cancer, he held up an elephant sculpture I had crafted. "Take things further, " he said. He always had a knack for encouraging me to continue my life long interest in art. And now, I am taking things further. I have had an enormous amount of exposure to the art world and because of my association with Marshall University and other individuals. I strive for improvement everyday. Recently I exhibited in the Allied Artist Show at Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia and am showing at the Art Emporium in Charleston, WV and I was recently published in Art Jewelry II, a book about jewelry art, which is another passion of mine. Life has not stopped with retirement and I am happiest when busy. Inspiration is drawn from the world around me and I expect to be able to continue for many years, exhibiting and enjoying myself.
