I saw a portrait by John Singer Sargent some 50 years ago. The man's face came at me out of the darkness. I shook with excitement and never got over that dramatic presentation of a human being. There is a need / compulsion to capture images and human moments; documentation of my own creative responses to the world. Why the compulsion? Haven't figured this out yet… All I know is a never-ending thrill at that precise moment when red and yellow mingle into orange; a glowing connection to my soul. Born, raised and still in West (by gosh!) Virginia, Mary Lou Wiegand is a member of WV Allied Artists and Charleston and Huntington Calligraphers' Guilds. Her art can be obtained in various venues and through commissioned work including portraits. She works in watercolor and oil as well as calligraphy. Thanks for your interest!
