**Meeting on Tuesday March 9th at the Clay Center**

Our March meeting will begin at 6pm with a FREE guided tour of the Clay Center exhibit “Lost in Form, Found in Line: An Exhibition of Works by Robert Motherwell (1915-1991).”  Organized by the Jerald Melberg Gallery, Charlotte, NC, in association with the Dedalus Foundation, this exhibition explores Motherwell’s working process with forty lithographs, screenprints and etchings; three monoprints; and seven drawings, collages and paintings dating from 1966 to 1990. Motherwell was the youngest member of the heroic generation of post-war Abstract Expressionists who revolutionized painting and shifted the art world's attention from Paris to New York. He is also the only one of the group (which included Jackson Pollock, Hans Hoffman and Willem De Kooning) for whom printmaking became a major preoccupation.

It is that time again!  AAWV 2010 Juried Show, our 67th Juried Exhibition, will be held at the Clay Center.  The exhibit dates are May 1 – June 27th.  The submission deadline is March 10.  Submissions will ONLY be accepted as a digital image on a CD.  Images should be formatted for a screen of 1280 pixels across by 1024 pixels high.  The image can be “framed” by adding a black box around the artwork in the image, but the artwork itself cannot be altered from the digital photo.  The file should either be an 8 bit TIFF (approximately 3.5 MB) or a high quality JPEG file (at least 150 KB file size).  NO OTHER FILE TYPE IS ACCEPTABLE. (pict, pcx, tga, etc.)  File names for the artwork should simply be the artist’s last name plus a number. Example:  “smith1.jpeg”.  CD’s must be user friendly and will not be returned.  Mail your submissions (with entry form and payment) to:  Linda Stonestreet, PO Box 536, Hurricane, WV 25526.  All West Virginia residents over the age of 18 are eligible.  The entry fee is $20.00 for members of AAWV and $30.00 for non-members.  The complete prospectus with other requirements and entry form has been mailed to all members and is also available as a pdf file:  aawvonline
