I am a native of West Virginia, born and raised in St. Albans, and currently residing in Hurricane.
I am a member of Allied Artists of West Virginia and serve on the board as the webmaster. I have been juried into Tamarack's David L. Dickirson Gallery. I am also a member of Gallery Eleven in Charleston, WV.
Artistic Statement
I love nature. Its colors and forms create natural works of art every day. I take a part of that natural world and study it, meditate on it, reduce it to its fundamentals and then place that essence on a canvas. Abstract art to me is using color and form to show that essence plus the human reaction, the emotion that we feel. My studio is a little unorthodox. I paint in various locations in my home. There are large windows for abundant natural light, a high ceiling, and a hard wood floor. Since we live on the top of a mountain surrounded by woods, the view is breathtaking. While I work in several mediums, my favorite is oil paint. I paint 'alla prima' so I can take advantage of the slow drying time of oils.
